It's never too early for an opus

Today Ecogeoman learned that his very first paper has been accepted! There are revisions, of course, but the reviews border on glowing.

The manuscript was 120 pages (1.5 spaced) including figures and references.

In other news, our symposium proposal is nearly finished. All we have to do is hash out the speaker list, which has become quite a task. We're happy with the proposal text, having recieved positive feedback from colleagues. However, we're struggling to ensure that each talk addresses the questions/problems we raised in the text. This is easier said than done.

um, my dissertation was 146 pages including figures/tables/title pages/appendix, ect. and it was 1.5 spacing.
Congrats to him yes but I'm curious if 120 page manuscripts are common for his field.

Congrats to you both! That is a huge paper!
Good luck- picking speakers sounds difficult but also like the most fun part of the symposium process!

I'll pass along your congrats.

He says the length of the paper is pretty typical for his field. It's mostly descriptive, with 17 complex figures. It's a monograph, really (mercifully, I've been able to get away without reading the whole thing so far, which is good because I won't undertand it). I can't even imagine how long his dissertation will be, because I doubt this will be the longest paper!
