A list of things I will miss about our current place, in no particular order:
- Lots of space, including plenty of closet space and beds to accommodate a visiting family of 5
- Beautiful original woodwork
- Tree-lined streets, including big trees right outside the window that make it feel like we live in a treehouse
- Relatively inexpensive rent
- Wonderful neighborhood -- very safe and quiet-ish yet very interesting with lots to do
- Excellent natural light
- Shorter commute!!!!!
- Dishwasher!
- Laundry in unit!
- Elevator
- Pool and sundeck
- Pool table room in the building
- Gym, with a view, in the building
- Party room, with a view, in the building
- Garage parking space
- Lots of kitchen counter space
- Decent water pressure
- A toilet that flushes properly
- Bathroom door that latches and locks
- Busy, super-hot neighborhood
- Incredibly convenient access to public transit
- Closer proximity to many of our friends
- Shorter commute!!!

I like the sounds of shorter commute, gym in the building and a pool :)
and the shorter distance to everything. I know that lesser space, especially closet space, will suck for awhil but I'm sure that the other things will make up for it!! woho! good luck with the move!
a pool in the builing?! WOW!
Moving is horrible though, good luck ... But sounds like you will be definitely better of!
Chall, I think you are right. We'll feel cramped at first, but it will be worth it.
Nina, my move across town will be nothing compared to your move across the globe! And I too was impressed by the pool. It's outdoors and smallish, so more for lounging than exercise, but still.
Never underestimate the importance of good water pressure! I'll take lots of hot water with decent pressure over closets any day. (I love wardrobes and under-the-bed storage.)
Sweet!!
Yoohoo! Shorter commute sounds brillant! And a pool, cool! That sounds extremely fancy to my European ears.
Hope the moving goes smoothly!
UR, I have my eye on a bed with drawers underneath, cause two closets just isn't going to do it! I'm used to the low water pressure now, so even if the new place isn't great, it should feel awesome in comparison.
JP - indeed!
SG- fancy to my ears too!
You will be surprised how great your stuff will fit after a visit to a big box store to grab a bunch of organizer stuff.
p.s. I had a bed with drawers underneath and loved it.
Happy to hear your commute will be better.
How exciting! It sounds like your old place had a lot of character and charm but your new place sounds like it can make up for that with amenities and location, location, location! Three cheers for a shorter commute :-)
Jennie, our stuff is fitting surprisingly well. We'll still need to get some organization stuff, but so far so good.
Karina - exactly!
A pool! And a gym in the building! Oh, it sounds awesome!
