Richard is not funny

I've gotten about two dozen calls in the past two days from online universities recruiting someone named Richard.  I do not know anyone named Richard.  But now I hate Richard.

It seems that Richard requested information from a shit-ton of for-profit colleges.  He entered the wrong phone number -- my cell number -- for all of them.  These institutions are wicked aggressive in their recruiting, and do not let up.  I tell each one of them to remove the entry from their databases, and although the frequency of calls has slowed, I'm still getting them.

Makes me wonder if Richard is someone I know who hates me and gave these college my number as a mean joke!

My brother did that once to me. Only the employer was the Army!

How annoying! Maybe you should ask them to "remind" you of "Richard's" credit card details next time they call?

I once got a call from a very, very stoned person who was trying to reach a local pizza place. When I told him he had the wrong number, he said "oh, man, did I call ENGLAND?!

He called back twice before he got the message, but at least he was entertaining!

HAPPY NEW YEAR, by the way!

UR - eek! The Army would be much worse! I remember the ROTC recruiters calling incessantly when I was a senior in high school.

Cath - that is a great story! "did I call Enland?" LOL!

Report them to your state do not call agency. Since you didn't sign up for them (even if your number was used) they are probably violating the do not call law for your state. Even if they're not violating the law, the local agency will still give them a 'friendly' reminder about the law, which usually results in the calls stopping. I had to do this on several debt collection agencies who were robocalling my house. Only got 1 nasty repsonse back ('if person had called us we would have stopped'. yeah like I'm calling an unknown number idiots.)

Anon, that's a good idea. Fortunately, I haven't gotten any more calls in the last couple of days. Seems telling the colleges to remove the number was enough after all.
