Anyway, I've been looking at wedding dresses online, but they're starting to all blend together. I guess that's not a big surprise, because as you'll see, I have a pretty narrow search image. I never would have predicted that I'd go for a lace dress, but that's what I want.
To help you make an informed vote, I'll say that we are having the wedding next fall at a forest preserve. The ceremony will be outside on a stone patio (under a tent) and the dinner will be in an old lodge building with a big wrap-around porch, tons of wood paneling, and fireplaces. I'm wanting a romantic, low-key, vintage feel. I'll also tell you that I'm very petite but with curvy hips. Surprisingly, since I'm bigger on bottom than on top, the trumpet silhouette was pretty flattering when I tried on dresses last summer. I also discovered that I look better in white white than off white. I do not intend to wear a veil. I'm also not too keen on trains--I think they overwhelm my short frame and look too formal--but there seem to be few dresses without them. I can always bustle. Also, I want to add a sash.
So, which dress do you prefer?

See the side bar to vote! I'm going to close the SurveyMonkey poll because it's way too lame that you all can't see the results. I'll add the votes already cast to the blogger poll.

Will you post the results? I voted for #4!
Yes! I thought it would show the results after you cast a vote. How lame.
Thanks for voting!
Survey Monkey doesn't show the results - I voted #4, and also like #1.
Ok, I'm closing the survey monkey poll and replacing it with a blogger poll in the side bar. As of now, there were 14 responses:
#1: 5
#2: 1
#3: 3
#4: 4
#5: 1
I like 1. It seems the most vintage and the best for you setting, but they all are beautiful!
I like dress #1. It is very unique.
Also,if you have small boobs it will look the best. I find those low v-neck tops just don't flatter small breasted women.
I voted 1 as well, but isn't this in fact the "first dress is THE dress" syndrome?? My next favourite is #3.
I voted for #3. #2 is actually my favorite, but given your description I think it may be more appropriate for me than you. :)
#1 seems to be most popular, and I agree it's very pretty... maybe it's just the model in the picture, but it seems awfully "little girl" to me. (It really could just be the model!)
Dress #2 is my favorite by far! And I vote no sash... I think they bring attention to the waist in a bad way for most women.
I voted #1 - it's so unique! I've never seen anyone else wear one like that, and I love it.
Which one's have you tried on? I thought some I loved in the picture weren't me when I had them on, and one I was iffy about while on the hanger was the ONE once I tried it on....
I think they are all pretty!
Everyone seems to be going with #1! That's my top pick, too. But I also liked #4. They're both romantic and sweet, with that vintage feel you wanted.
i love them all, but my favorite is 3! (i voted). that could be because i am looking at dresses right now and that's the style i want for myself, as i'm also very petite, but yah.
also, i'd seen the top one before, who are the designers of the other ones!?
oh, and congrats on getting married soon!
ooh, also, are you trying any of them on in store before buying online?! and where are you buying online, or looking at? i want to get a lace dress but its so expensive in store. and i am not going the replicate for me in china route... this is so exciting, that another blogger is getting married!
My first pref is 3, I like the back A LOT, my second pick is 1. Have you thought about something to cover up your arms when it is colder than expected? Like a bolero of the same fabric the lace of the dress is in?
These are all so great! Tough choice but ultimately I voted for the first one.
Ooooh ... I like everyone else love #1! But it all depends on what looks best on YOU.
Hmm. I voted dress #4. Something to think about: is "dress#1" leading because of the dress? or rather because of the model? Just something to keep in mind. Vote by the dress, not by the person wearing in the figures.
Thanks for your input and votes, Everyone!
In response to some of your comments:
I agree that #1 has a fantastic vintage feel, but I'm concerned that it will make me look 12 years old. My BFF agrees.
Sashes can indeed go wrong, but I think it will flatter my body type. BFF notes that it might give me more curves.
I kind of like v-necks on small breasts, since they are kind of sexy without being over the top. In contrast, I think that #5 might look more sexy than I want given my big round ass. :)
I am definitely considering getting some kind of outerwear in case it's cold. I'm thinking of a bolero sort of jacket in a very smooth, low pile velvet. In that light purple color that mums sometimes have.
I agree that the model in the picture influences our opinions. I rather dislike the hairdo in #5, which makes me unsure if I love the dress.
All of these dresses cost around $200 online. I have heard that pretty much all the dresses come from the same Chinese manufacturers whether you buy them with the designer label from a bridal salon or online. We're spending more than we wanted on the venue/caterer, so I'm looking for places to cut back. I tried on a dress that is similar to #2 and really liked it, and like I said I really liked the mermaid silhouette. The ideal, of course, would be to try all of these on and then choose, but I'm not sure that I'll make that happen. Initially I had imagined buying an off-the-rack dress, but the samples they carry in the stores are way too big for me. By the time I had them altered down, the dress would either be unrecognizable or I'd have spent more on alterations than I paid for the dress.
When I went shopping over the summer, I tried on a wide variety of styles because I wasn't sure what I wanted. Now that I have a better idea of what I'm looking for, I think one more outing is in order before I buy anything. But honestly, at $200, if I order one of these dresses and don't like it, it's not like I've broken the bank.
they're all gorgeous but I've realised that I have a thing about backs... ;) I'm trying to remember that it is for you and not me and I am sure they will look good on you. I prefer #1 - even as you said, it is a tad bit on the young side but depending on what you wear make up wise and hair do that will all change...
#2 is smashing, although what you said about being hour glass shaped... I wonder if it would be too revealing?! me not know.
Good luck with which ever and ordering. Remember to double check the sizing since that is very odd in wedding dresses compared with "regular" dresses, as well as different styles and m anufactors. (I'm sure you already know this but still, never hurts to remind?)
I missed this post... I liked #1-3 all a lot better than the last two. I'm really not a fan of the waist sash and I agree about trains.
Granted, I refuse to be in anyone's weddings whenever possible, so maybe I'm not supposed to have an opinion on this. ;-)
I really like 1-3 the best.I think I am leaning toward #1 because it seems unique. If you choose #2, just promise you won't stand like that. :)
