- I have been having a hard time putting myself to bed lately. I just stay up doing stupid shit like doing crossword puzzles online, which are a new mini-obsession. This means that I am a) grouchy and b) not productive sitting at my desk. I've been doing more in the lab lately to avoid staring into space when I'm supposed to be writing a talk for a workshop next week.
- The summer students have arrived. I like the feeling of intense productivity during the busy, well staffed summers. On the other hand, the lab gets crowded and messy and that drives me fucking nuts. There may be more on this later.
- I had an awesome time meeting some other bloggers this weekend. They were remarkably similar to how I'd imagined them. There may be more on this later, too.
- I watched the Ricky Bobby movie tonight. The extras were better than the movie.
- EGM recently learned that he has to skip a paycheck, so we are trying to be frugal and go easy at the grocery store. While annoying, I'm glad to be more mindful of how we shop and eat. I feel like Arduous. There will probably be more on this at The Economical Academic soon.
- I gotta go to bed now before my face falls in my keyboard or I pick a fight with EGM for no good reason. G'night.

I'm so jealous of your blogger meetup!
omg, i do the same thing with sleep and crosswords. where do you do yours? i wish there were more free nytimes ones, those are the best!
It sounds like a lot of fun to meet some other bloggers - wish I could have been there!
RBOC - I looked it up, means "baby bells" - or some boating club - what do you mean? (I'm just an internet nerd, I guess.)
On the trying to save money note- have you read "Not Buying It"? It's this woman's account of how she didn't buy anything for year. REALLY interesting. As someone who is terrible with money (well, good at spending it, terrible at saving it) it really helped me. I highly recommend :) And good luck.
Arduous, let me know next time you're in the Midwest! Although there must be other bloggers to meet in your neck of the woods, no?
Justme, I've done USAToday and Bestcrosswords dot com. The latter sort of sucked, though. DO you know any good ones that aren't too hard? I'm new.
SilverFox, random bullets of crap. At least that's what I think it is. Others may have different interpretations.
Crystal, welcome! I haven't read that book but I've heard about it before. I generally classify myself as a "saver". This situation is really more EGM's problem than mine, but becomes mine since we live together. Frankly, I think it will be great to have an excuse to be more frugal so I can save more. :)
I have the same problem. Not sure why...I guess I just like being up late. I've alwasy found it strangely soothing to be awake after everyone else has gone to sleep. But only if I'm up doing random stuff. If I'm the only one awake and working, then that totally sucks!
i like the new york times the best, but for free, they only have older puzzles, ie from the 90s, but they only change them once a week. and i can only do mondays now, though i used to be good til wednesdays. i do yahoo as well, but the nytimes to me are the best ones.
