How convenient
Why is it that there used to be sick mother/baby combos on Grey's Anatomy pretty regularly before Addison left, and then suddenly there were none after she moved to California? So now she's visiting Seattle and there just happens to be a rare, complicated sick mother/baby case? This shows really waxes and wanes for me. It goes through phases of being compelling in a sloppy soap opera way and then it irritates the crap out of me by being just sloppy.
I should just stick to Lost, which was AWESOME. Seriously. Who are we supposed to trust? Did Locke fix it? Is Faraday like Richard? Is Eloise going to tell us everything we want to know next week? I can't wait! And yet, I don't want to rush time. Such is life.

Back to normal
Ecogeoman is finally back home. What a relief. I'm not afraid of flying myself, but I do get nervous when he flies. What if his plane crashes and he gets stranded like on Lost*?
I've also been looking forward to EGM's return as a cure for the lazy slumpiness that has plagued me for the last several weeks. I haven't done jack shit on the evenings or weekends which makes me feel bad. I'm hoping that having him around will activate me a little. At the very least sitting around the house, being snowed in in frigid weather will be less boring with his company.
*OMG, I just watched the three hour refresher. I can't freaking wait for the new episode next week!

Good for morale
At my lab, we like to talk about Lost the day after it airs. It used to be a string of individual conversations that seemed to go on all day. I'd talk to the first guy who got in, then later Awesome Technician and I would talk about it, then maybe later Research Advisor would want to chew on it with us too, then I'd see the other technician chatting with AT, and on it went. Now we take turns bringing donuts. No one is allowed to talk about last night's show until we're all together and then we hash out our theories and questions over some Boston cream.
I really like that we do this. Sure, it's 30 min of wasted time, but I think it's good for us. It's nice to have a little fun at work, as long as it doesn't get out of hand. On top of that, it often devolves into work talk.
I'd like to note that people in the lab who don't watch Lost are welcome to join us for donuts if they don't mind listening to us hypothesize about hatches and smoke monsters.

Lost = awesome
This season of Lost has been brilliant. The pacing is fantastic, the plot is dramatic and complex, and every single episode ends with a twist out of absolutely nowhere. I can't wait to see what happends next!
They best not end the series by revealing that the whole thing was someone's dream.

RBOC: blah
- I was planning to write a post with real content tonight, but my THREE HOUR commute this afternoon kind of sucked the will out of me. And some of you wondered why I hate snow.
- We're supposed to be getting the biggest storm of the season right now. If it's still snowing in the morning, I'm staying home. I already called my carpool buddy to warn him. On one hand, this is a bummer because I prepared some lab work that I'd really like to do. On the other, a snow day snuggled in my pj's, working on my paper sounds pretty good.
- My traffic-induced grouch was partially mitigated by the return of Lost. Ecogeoman and I get super into it, as do a few of my coworkers. We will surely discuss it tomorrow (if I go in). I think the show is off to a pretty good start The writers need to come back now so the season gets completed.
- I ended the month with a little money left over, which I transferred to my savings account today. Good news for that resolution.
