Not fun. I've lived plenty of summers without air conditioning, but I really prefer being able to moderate the temperature of my house. Hope you can sleep tonight.
We live in a similar oven. Window and ceiling fans are my best friends. We have a window unit a/c but try not to use it. Plus it craps out in rain or high humidity when we need it most...
Nightmare... we used to live in an apartment with skylights, windows we couldn't leave open during the day (dodgy neighbourhood), and above actual pizza ovens belonging to the restaurant below. It was torture. No AC, of course, not in Vancouver! So I feel your pain and hope things cool down soon.
I am a 6th year PhD student in the earth/life sciences. While I love science as a vocation and intellectual pursuit, I get frustrated with what it means to have a job as a scientist, especially as a woman. I am freaked out by my impending two-body problem and being a scientist with children someday. I am an advocate of lowering what we expect one person to do together with really working while at work so that 40-45 hours of it is sufficient. Enough is as good as a feast!

but on the bright side, EGM is coming home!
That's true! I'm going to get him in about 30 min. Plus I had a good day at work, so I'm in a good mood.
The breeze is picking up and cooling things down. A fan directed right on me really helps with sleeping. And I can feel smug about not using a/c!
