I'd like to thank Amanda for honoring me with this lovely Inspiration Award. The rules say I should now nominate 7 bloggers who inspire me. I want to honor some bloggers who do something I find totally amazing: blog in a foreign language. These blogs are written in excellent English by people whose first language is not English. It's hard enough for me to write in a coherent way, and I'm writing in my mother tongue. Cheers to those who have interesting things to say and can say it in more than one language!
1. Amelie (who writes in not one, but two languages!)
2. Hypoglycemiagirl
3. Stepwisegirl
4. Nina
5. Saxifraga
6. Sciencegirl
7. Chall
These are the first 7 that sprang to mind. I know some of these people live (or have lived) in English-speaking places and I'm sure all do at least some of their work in English, so maybe I'm be condescending or something by saying they're amazing. Still, I can't imagine that it's not a least a little challenging to blog in something other than one's first language, especially since this king of blogging is usually a hobby. Anyway, these are terrific blogs regardless of what language their authors like to speak.
I'm sure there are many other great blogs like them (maybe some that I don't realize are written by non-native English speakers) that deserve a shout out as well.

Waw, thank you!
Well I'm glad I'm blogging in English and can interact with you and the rest!
Thanks again!
Thanks a bunch!
I've been very bad at passing on awards (and blogging in general) recently. Too much work to do!
I do all of my work in English and it's more than a decade since I started taking notes and "thinking" about work-related stuff in English. But now is the first time I actually live in an English speaking country
Oh thank you for thinking of me! It's true that I do all my work in English, and I often find it easier to speak about my work in English. On other topics, it's different, though ;)
congrads!
Wow, thanks. That made me happy.
I do my work in English and all teaching at my uni is in English, but I never lived in an English speaking country. I do think it's more difficult for me to write in a foreign language though. I don't have as varied a vocabulary and sometimes it's difficult to accept not having the personal expressions available for blogging. I definitely have less of a personal voice in English. I've sometimes considered writing in my own language, but then I wouldn't want to loose being part of the international blogging community.
You all are awesome for blogging and working in a second language. I often think how unfair it is for some of us to get to do science in our native tongue while others have to learn a second language on top of all the science. You guys rock. :)
Thanks for the award - I really like the theme you picked :) I live in an English speaking country and all my work is in English, but since most of my interaction is at work (and, lets face it, the majority of that is with a computer screen or with other non-native speakers), writing in a conversational manner has been a challenge. Blogosphere is definitely helping me learn :)
Thanks a lot! I have not been paying attention to this in a timely fashion (vacation.... wohooo!!) but it is very nice of you to mention me.
I reread my posts every once in awhile and find spelling errors and syntax that is so Swedish that it is silly. Then again, it is fun to see that it makes some kind of sense ;)
I guess it was a good thing that my fellow classmates and I were learning English from age 10 in school (public) and that we keep the original sound in the movies.
With that I will go and contnue my vacation and bask in glory! (And think of a new blog post...)
