Ecogeoman and I are, like everyone else, trying to save money. I think it's fair to say that I'm a Saver and he's a Spender. Tonight was his night to think of what to have for dinner and then make it.
So he ordered take out.
While we were waiting for it to arrive, I said, "I can't believe you ordered Thai." To which he replied, "I can't believe how pretty you are."
Butt head. I just don't think he gets it.

Your post made me laugh out loud. Dr. Man does the same thing! I don't think he gets it either :-)
I completely get it.
Maybe you could set up a weekly cooking budget for each of you? Make saving fun! This way he could spend on thai one night, and cook something really cheap on the other, and it would balance out.
We are saving money here now, and it is my husband who cooks (How lucky am I!). It is mostly rice and vegetables, I am glad we took the vitamins with iron with us so that we do not get anaemia ;-)
Oh my, that is just sweet :)
(and thanks for the award!!!)
Ah, but it was his turn to choose, and no other rules? Did he say pretty, or petty? Pretty - that's so sweet! And you are fortunate to be trading off. I'm sure you'll get the details worked out, knowing you and details. ;)
I've had a similar exchange in my household with E-Boy... thanks for the chuckle.
Ha, that's funny.
He may be a spender, but at least he's smart. :)
LOL! This is one of the reasons why Hubby gets other chores while I get to cook (it does help that I enjoy cooking and much prefer it to take out ;)
Ha! I am a Saver and Jon is a Spender. I can totally relate.
