It really annoys me how all the presidential candidates are referred to by their last names except Clinton. I know it's partly because it's to "avoid confusion" with her husband, but honestly, are we really in danger of confusing them at this point? Smells of gender bias to me...

I've thought about this a lot, and I agree with you. I know a lot of it is to distinguish Senator Clinton from President Clinton, but to me it smacks of subconscious sexism EXCEPT that largely, HER campaign is the one who keeps referring to Senator Clinton as Hillary- on her website, it's everywhere. "Hillary for President." So in that case, I can't really blame people for following her lead.
Hmmm....hadn't thought about it 'til now!
Arduous does have a good point! I wonder if people would still refer to her as Hillary if her campaign didn't?
Yes, very good point.
While I do agree that in the media's case it smacks of sexism, it might be her campaign's way of distancing herself from her husband's presidency so it doesn't just sound like we're electing Bill Clinton again. Especially since our current familiarly-named president is such a fiasco. I remember hearing someone say "we have got to have a president that isn't a Bush or a Clinton", so it could be a way of avoiding those sorts of comments.
That's another good point.
Here, where we have a female Chacellor, women politicians are often referred to by first name and men politicians always by last name. Gender bias? Hell yes.
Though it might be different in Hillarys case, as pointed out.

well, I think her campaign is using it precisely because she is female and women in power are often considered hard and mean and I think this is their ploy to make her seem more "human" which is just another way of saying it's gender bias.
