In addition to clothes, we received other very nice presents, like an awesome camp stove from S1, who had drawn our names this year. This is great because I didn't have any camping gear until recently and most of Ecogeoman's stuff is the ultra small, lightweight kind meant for backpacking, not the car camping we do now. I got an immersion blender and a vegetarian crock pot cookbook, a thoughtful gift from my mom after last year's new crock pot. Ecogeoman gave me the book, Women Don't Ask by Babcock and Laschever which I've been wanting forever (I'm sure I'll blog about it). But the Best Gift Ever was a surprise. After we had opened all the presents, Ecogeoman handed me a note that said "you get dance lessons of your choice." I spazed. You see, although I have never had a dance class and have no rhythm, I dance around the house all the time and I LOVE the dancing shows that are currently popular on network tv. I'm hoping I can convince Ecogeoman to take ballroom with me, instead of me taking something like ballet or hip hop by myself (even though that would be great too).
I am so excited.
Those of you who read this post can call me a hypocrite now.

Awesome gifts! All our camping gear needs to be replaced, wish I'd thought of that... we tend to go kayak camping, which is intermediate between hiking and driving in terms of space and weight requirements. Bottles of wine, fresh fruit, inflatable mattress all good, BBQ and folding chairs not advisable (but still just about possible).
I tried to make Hubby take dancing lessons before the wedding but he wouldn't do it. In fact he wouldn't even practice with me in the house. During our excrutiating first dance, during which we both completely embarrassed ourselves, he whispered in my ear "practicing would have been a really good idea".
Enjoy your lessons!
They sound wonderful gifts, and you're allowed to be happy. Better to get something you'll use than somethign that will sit in the cupboard and gather dust.
We go car camping too (not braved Kayak camping - too much rain), so tend to have multiples of everything.
Dr R wouldn't take dancing lessons, unless it was Scottish dancing, and we know most of them anyway...
_Women Don't Ask_ is a good book---I think you'll enjoy reading it, and can't wait to read your thoughts on it.
Enjoy your dance lessons! What a cool gift!
Dancing lessons...what a great gift! Ballroom is fun, but you could also consider swing/lindy hop. They're a little easier than ballroom in the sense that you only have to learn a few basic moves to have a lot of fun and look impressive!
Wow, you got some great gifts!! I'm looking forward to your thoughts on "Women Don't Ask".
cae, it's good to be right, isn't it? :)
mad hatter, good suggestion -- I didn't know swing might be easier. Ecogeoman apparently looked into classes but is leaving it up to me to decide. I guess I'll have to check around to see what's available nearby that isn't too expensive.
